TEST RESULTS USING Photosynthesis Plus
Table 1. Effects of Photosynthesis Plus product on chlorophyll content (ChlM), flavonol content (FlvM), anthocyanin content (AnthM), and nitrogen balance index (NBI) and maximum quantum efficiency of photosystem II (Fv/Fm) of kiwi leaves
Photosynthesis Plus product stimulated plant defense and antioxidants in leaves, acting in the flavonoids pathways where we can find 15 different compounds upregulated in this class (10 fold). Photosynthesis Plus product also increased the levels of chorismic acid (Fold change +7.4), more commonly known as its anionic form chorismite which is an important biochemical intermediate in plants and microorganisms. Photosynthesis Plus product is a precursor for:
Photosynthesis Plus product increased jasmonic acid which is a plant hormone involved in plant defense and microbial resistance of the plant.
CHEMRICH PLOT SHOWING THE GROUPING OF MOLECULES BY CHEMICAL CLASSIFICATION ON KIWI TREATED LEAVES VS UNTREATED LEAVES
Metabolomic analysis of fruits showed no differences in fruit quality or metabolism between treatments.
CHEMRICH PLOT SHOWING THE GROUPING OF MOLECULES BY CHEMICAL CLASSIFICATION ON KIWI TREATED FRUITS VS UNTREATED FRUITS
Photosynthesis Plus product stimulated plant defense and antioxidants in both leaves acting in the flavonoids pathways where we can find 19 different compounds upregulated.
The product also increased the levels of chlorogenic acid (CGA) which is the ester of
caffeic acid and (−)-quinic acid, functioning as an intermediate in lignin biosynthesis. The term
“chlorogenic acids” refers to a related polyphenol family of esters, including hydroxycinnamic acids (caffeic acid, ferulic acid and p-coumaric acid) with quinic acid.
As direct effect of the increase of this compound we detected an increase of the cinnamic acid
class.
We also found an increase of carotenoids in leaves, known to be important in photo protection against high level of sunlight.
CHEMRICH PLOT SHOWING THE GROUPING OF MOLECULES BY CHEMICAL CLASSIFICATION ON PEACH TREATED LEAVES VS UNTREATED LEAVES
Metabolomic analysis of fruits showed an increase of flavonoid pathways as reported for leaves
CHEMRICH PLOT SHOWING THE GROUPING OF MOLECULES BY CHEMICAL CLASSIFICATION ON PEACH TREATED FRUITS VS UNTREATED FRUITS
Photosynthesis Plus product stimulated plant defense and antioxidants in leaves acting in the
flavonoids pathways where we can find 12 upregulated compounds.
We also found several amino acids and dipeptides which were upregulated by Photosynthesis Plus product application indicating a better nitrogen uptake and assimilation of treated
plants.
CHEMRICH PLOT SHOWING THE GROUPING OF MOLECULES BY CHEMICAL
CLASSIFICATION ON GRAPE TREATED LEAVES VS UNTREATED LEAVES
Photosynthesis Plus product stimulated flavonoids pathways in the fruits as observed in leaves.
Similar results were also observed for other metabolitesplants.
CHEMRICH PLOT SHOWING THE GROUPING OF MOLECULES BY CHEMICAL CLASSIFICATION ON GRAPE TREATED FRUITS VS UNTREATED FRUITS
Photosynthesis Plus product stimulated plant defense and antioxidants in leaves acting in the flavonoids pathways where we can find 9 upregulated compounds.
We also found an upregulation of auxin Compounds
CHEMRICH PLOT SHOWING THE GROUPING OF MOLECULES BY CHEMICAL CLASSIFICATION ON TOMATO TREATED LEAVES VS UNTREATED LEAVES
Photosynthesis Plus product stimulated cinnamic acids and auxin compounds in the fruits ChemRICH plot showing the grouping of molecules by chemical classification on TOMATO treated fruits VS untreated fruits
CHEMRICH PLOT SHOWING THE GROUPING OF MOLECULES BY CHEMICAL CLASSIFICATION ON TOMATO TREATED FRUITS VS UNTREATED FRUITS
Photosynthesis Plus product improved nitrogen status of kiwi plants. Photosynthesis Plus product increased flavonoid content in the leaves of all crops. Flavonoids were also increased in the fruits of peach and grape. Flavonoids perform a wide range of biological activities in plants; flavonoids are responsible for the color and aroma of flowers, and for attracting pollinators and promoting the dissemination of seeds. Flavonoids protect plant tissues from different biotic and abiotic stresses and act as UV filters, functioning as signal molecules, allelopathic compounds, phytoalexins, detoxifying agents and antimicrobial defensive compounds. Flavonoids protect plant tissues from frost and drought playing a functional role in plant heat acclimatization and freezing tolerance. Flavonoids play a significant role on human health especially in reducing the risk of degenerative diseases such as cardiovascular, neuronal, and also cancer.
Taken together the results suggest that Photosynthesis Plus products have the potential to act as plant biostimulant enhancing crop resistance to environmental stresses.
